Why we wrote
The Little Wave and Other Stories

We wrote this book in part for our own children and for ourselves, imagining and then bringing to the page the stories to comfort, support and guide in moments of worry, hurt and heartbreak.

Even though death is the only certainty in life, we have seen time and time again how unprepared we are for the loss of the people we love most, and the pain of the grief that follows. It’s a universal and unifying human experience - and yet we try to keep it from children.

All our children deserve happy, carefree childhoods. But loss is a part of life and it’s not something we can always protect them from. With this book, we want to give children and families the tools they need to understand, anticipate and grow from grief.
